Controls quality in all operations in the department.
Ensures that all operations are performed by the most efficient methods and at optimum speeds.
Verifies accurate recording of time and materials used.
Supervises all personnel in the department.
Maintains equipment and materials.
Schedules department.

Duties:
Quality Control
Checks all jobs brought to the department to ensure that all required operations are completed.
Maintains finished goods product and inventory.
Ensures that all jobs are packed securely and adequately protected from damage in shipment.
Follows packaging instructions on ticket; in absence of specific instructions, packs in most efficient manner.
Monitors appearance of drivers and vehicles.
Maintains cleanliness and order. Disposes of unnecessary items and arranges needed items neatly.
Productivity:
Prepares daily delivery and pickup schedule to efficiently utilize drivers and vehicles available; ensures that departure times are in accordance with schedules.
Determines best methods of shipment via commercial carriers; prepares shipping documents, organizes pickups when required.
Keeps abreast of new methods of shipping and freight carriers, mail and postal regulations and policies, monitors cost of shipping.
Coordinates activities with other departments. Participates actively in monthly supervisors’ meetings and daily production meetings.
Coordinates the flow of information between Sales/CSR and Shipping departments.
Monitors Standard Operating Procedures for operations. Revises them to correct deficiencies or incorporate new or improved methods.
Conforms to production schedule determined by scheduling department; advises them immediately if schedule cannot be met.
Arranges department for efficient workflow. Eliminates wasted space and unnecessary items.
Receive all materials shipped to COMPANY. Deliver to appropriate department.
Apply all COMPANY procedures on receiving to all inbound shipments.
Supervise shipment of all waste material.
Makes personnel available to other departments when workload is light.
Cost Recording:
Ensures accurate recording of time and materials used. Spot checks to determine that time sheets are kept current.
Work with general manager to approve needed overtime and entries on timesheets by initialing, giving particular attention to rework, alterations and non-chargeable time.
Keeps wasted time and materials to minimum. Issues rework authorization forms as required.
Supervision:
Provides for safety of employees.
Completes comprehensive inspections monthly and is constantly alert for unsafe practices and conditions.
Assures that safety equipment is adequate, in good condition, and used as required. Corrects any deficiencies promptly.
Recommends employment, disciplinary action, commendation and discharge of employees to General Manager
Aware of personal aspects of employees and treats them without discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Reminds them of their responsibilities to the company and advises them concerning their benefits.
Conducts and record training of new employees and employees assigned to new jobs. Checks periodically to insure adequacy.
Maintains equipment and materials.
Develops preventive maintenance schedules for in-plant equipment and ensures their use. Maintains adequate supply of spare parts. Sees that needed repairs are completed promptly.
Records mileage of delivery trucks and schedules preventive maintenance at recommended intervals. Spot checks to be sure drivers are inspecting vehicles as required.
Recommends replacements of vehicles when conditions warrants.
Reports to General Manager periodically concerning:
Delivery of jobs in relation to schedule.
Overtime required, downtime, absences, vacations, etc.
Problems or irregularities impending normal workflow.
Supplies, requisitions, shortages.
Disciplinary actions, merit increases, etc.
Specific problems related to particular jobs, or methods required for same, in contrast to original job estimates.
Inadequacy of breakdown of building or facilities.
Any other problem which cannot be resolved within the department, or which affects other departments.
